Charles Gwathmey

Charles Gwathmey, a principal at Gwathmey Siegel & Associates Architects, was a committed modernist. A defining aspect of Gwathmey’s career was his association with Peter Eisenman, Michael Graves, John Hejduk and Richard Meier; together they were known as The New York Five.  Gwathmey received his Masters degree from Yale and throughout his career taught at various universities including Princeton, Columbia, Yale, Harvard, Pratt Institute, Cooper Union, and the University of Texas. The firm Gwathmey Siegel is known for having a vibrant residential practice while also creating high profile museums and corporate architecture.
